M. Scott Hursh has been a practicing accountant since 1979 and a shareholder of the firm since 1987. He is the manager of the firm's Architectural, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) Industry Group. He has demonstrated his knowledge in nine content areas to become the first of only two Certified Construction Industry Financial Professionals (CCIFP) in Pennsylvania. The certification means Scott's AEC industry clients are assured of the highest quality service possible by a professional who has met the high standards of the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA), the "Source & Resource for Construction Financial Professionals.”
In addition to the usual financial and tax services, Scott works closely with his clients, using a focused, "hands-on" approach to help them achieve their goals, minimize their taxes and improve their profitability.
Scott has also performed numerous consulting assignments, including the selection of accounting software, obtaining financing and bonding, and buying or selling businesses. He has completed numerous reviews of other accounting firms under the AICPA's Peer Review Program.
Scott received his BS degree in Accounting from West Chester University. He is active in a number of trade organizations including the Keystone Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC), American Subcontractors Association (ASA), American Council of Engineering Companies of PA (ACEC/PA) and the Construction Finance Management Association. He was named Outstanding Chapter Member for the Year 2000 by the American Subcontractors Association of Central Pennsylvania, Inc., of which he is a past president. A member of the American and Pennsylvania Institutes of Certified Public Accountants, he has spoken several times for local and national events.
Scott oversees the Firm's membership in the Construction Industry CPAS/Consultants Association (CICPAC), a nationwide network of independent CPA firms specializing in construction accounting. As a member, the Firm shares the latest and most effective construction accounting systems and methods as they are developed. Scott is a member and previous chairman of the CFMA Accounting and Reporting Committee. The Accounting and Reporting Committee has overall responsibility for the publication of CFMA’s financial benchmarking product, CFMA’s Construction Industry Annual Financial Survey, now in its 17th year. In addition, this committee monitors emerging issues in the accounting industry in order to keep our members informed and develop public comments when CFMA elects to take a position on a matter. Scott's community activities include the Christian Business Men's Committee of York, and he has served on various other community organizations in the past.
